Public Art Policies
Public Art policies, sometimes known as "Percent for Art" policies are a means by
which municipalities designate resources to commission or otherwise acquire artworks
intended for installation in a public setting. "Percent for Art" refers to a designated
percentage of the budget of a public building project that is set aside to provide
funds for commissioning of a work of art.
Although public art policies usually share certain common practices, municipalities
will often tailor a policy to suit the specific needs of that community. On this
page you will find links to the public art policies of municipalities in the capital
region.
